From New Years Eve...

to tending to the morning hangover.

Currently being on the southern hemisphere and having just experienced the New Years excitement last night, I found myself hosting a most uncomfortable hangover this morning. It wasn't personally the most ideal way to start the year, but I figured I'd inspect the 2011 year on behalf of the world (that had yet to embrace the New Year) then relive it once more, in celebration with most of my friends and family (no matter how far away I may be).

Now the cure to this mornings aggravated waking moments and throbbing headache was a quick nanomeal (my go to morning shake!) and a hop into the shower. To soothe the deranged look and perturbed vibe I was in, I turned to Jack Johnson.

Jack's mellow 'flow through life' vibe seemed to be just the trick, putting my system in check once again. I put on a shuffle mix of his In Between Dreams and On & On albums. There's definitely something prevalent in Jack's sound that really brings a piece of his home and sense of well being to you. I can just feel the many stresses of the world melt away- picturing the soft sand beneath my back, tall palm trees shade me in just the right amount, while melting into the soft breeze and sounds of the surf...

I later checked out his website to watch that music video, "At Or With Me" with Andy Samberg, which I can't help but find so entertaining! It just cracks me up and puts me in such a good mood. I can't help but smile. Much like the ridiculousness of The Lonely Island's - "I'm on a boat". Absolutely love the ingeniousness and sense of humor that can be brought to music!

In the shower with soft tunes... not too fast to irritate, but slow enough to soothe, put me in a pleasantly, clean mood. It reminded me to take my time. Life can just flow- so what's the rush? With light notes that simply perked me up, I was feeling better in no time! New Year's 2011 part 2, here I come! Maybe not so much champagne this time though...

Without music, life would be a mistake...

In the beginning, there was light... or sound!

Tracing back to many religions, there is almost always a reference to the creation of sound or light.

In this case, sound has always been the primary to a movement or shift in my life. I've found that there may always be a perfect sound for any experience that one may hold. In finding such an awareness of experiences, I've also noticed the control and or enhancement to the present moment, when there is suitable, if not exquisitely profound music happening as well.

Music on a multitude of levels, heals and shifts my mood in such a way, pharmaceuticals could never come close to.

The questionable discovery of new music can at times be baffling; challenging in itself to really finite the type, feel, vibe of music one may be looking for. Thus, I am inspired to assist any who are willing to listen to suggestion, on this journey of new musical discovery. The suggestion(s) that may be made are in no way to offend or appear ignorant on any level. They are to simply assist in the enhancement of experiencing life through an opening of sight and sound.

These are also just the humble opinion and experience of one. What may be suggested, may or may not work for someone else. I hope, though, that one may find the openness to try a new experience. If it works for you, congrats! You've found a new rabbit hole to jump through. If not, maybe this one just wasn't your cup of tea. It's challenging enough to move beyond the general genre that is constantly played on the radio, but for those true, blue music lovers out there, it's a known fact that the soul will eventually urge you to search beyond the general and explore into the unknown.

Ready for the adventure?
